Intimate coastlines

Atlantic Ocean / Bretagne

Study of coastlines in Brittany / long exposure & intentional camera movement.

The photographs that make up this series were taken along the coast from the Quiberon Peninsula to Kerhillio Beach (Erdeven) with a digital camera and then printed on cotton paper.

The photographic technique applied during capture creates a meticulous contrast between the different points of light. The movement we see in many exhibited photographs is the result of the photographer’s prolonged presence in front of the elements. Temporality thus takes on a new dimension and transforms movement in a painterly manner, like a brush gliding on canvas. The result is an almost abstract landscape that remains in motion, with traces of light on the material.

The intention here was to convey the energy of the ocean and the memories it leaves.
